Trying to get started on installing the chimney. I have the attic insulation guard up and in but it doesnt quite seem right to me. If the rafters are spaced 12 inches apart and the stainless insulated double wall chimney pipe needs 2 inches of clearance to the rafters that leaves like no room for error? Im having a hard time getting mine centered perfectly and it doesnt seem like the tabs on the insulation guard are long enough to secure anywhere. In the picture you can see im a little bit offset to the left, the chimney pipe will miss the rafter by about an inch but if i need 2 inches then this won't work.. Any advice?? And no, having it professionally done isn't in the budget.
Should those tabs be even with the bottom of the dry wall or even with the bottom of the joists?
and whats with the 4 tabs on the ceiling support below? I assume those unfold upwards and get screwed into the joists or support structure? the directions don't really say.
