Is this the correct stuff to use for a block off plate?

Sure. It can either be stuffed in around the liner, or used ontop of a sheet metal plate.

I'm a little worried about the "fire resistant" rating that this product has. Maybe they produce another type of insulation that is fireproof?

It's melting point is probably about the same as your liner.

Roxul starts getting a little soft around 2,000 degrees. Your stove starts getting soft about that time too. At that point you would be watching from across the street.

Not to hijack the thread or not too be ignorant but that's what i was thinking about doing stuffing roxul in a dumper area around my ss flexible liner is that fine?

Absolutely.

its great stuff. impervious to water, does not support mold growth, super easy to install. it cuts with a bread knife and you don't need to wear a protective clothing. Like the previous poster said, its good to about 2000 degrees. if it get that hot, everything else around it will be catching fire anyway. You can take a torch to it and it will not effect it. made out of recycled slag from steel industry and melted rock.

You should absolutely wear a mask, if not a respirator and gloves, long sleeve shirt and pants when working with the stuff. Just because your respiratory system doesn't react to it doesn't mean that nobody will have a reaction. Treat the handling and installation of it the way you would fiberglass insulation.
