Just a random vent threat that left me confused but I will not be responding to the poster as I am not interested in a flame war....

This was the craigslist reply I received, followed by my original post:

"SHAME on you.. you are paying 2 times more than you should be and attempting to rip others off in the process...... Why are you purposely trying to take advantage of someone else? SHAME SHAME SHAME ON YOU. Reported. "

My post in question:

-----------------------------------------
Together we can order 20-22 Full cords of hardwood fire wood. This is about 66 face cords.

This works out to ~100$ a full cord or 33$ a face cord. Basically the going rate for fire wood is ~75-80$ a face cord delivered from firewood services so the savings can be substantial. If you are used to scavenging wood, dragging it out from lots ect you know the enticement to having such a large amount of firewood delivered directly to your door step. Although it still isn't "free" you are saving time, money, and gas that is necessary to go out, collect, and haul back, and then process.

The caveat is the wood comes unprocessed in 8-10 feet lengths and has to be processed.

We would split the load and the cost, so 10-11 cords each.

Much more economical than purchasing wood already processed and having it delivered and it gets delivered directly to you house (you do have to have a decent area set aside for 10 cords of unprocessed wood to stand).

These loads come from northern Michigan in double tractor trailers. An entire load is just more than I want to order on my own and splitting a load would be awesome. It would be about 1000-1100 apiece for 2-3 years worth of wood.

Please contact me through email if interested.

Confused, but not going to get involved in a flame war. Who can argue with 33$ a face cord of hardwood?!

I already found a partner and the wood is ordered so no big concerns really, but confused by this!

Lol definitely confusing. Your post is pretty straightforward and I'm failing to see any reason why it would appear to be a ripoff? Some people have nothing better to do....don't sweat it, you're a better man for not responding

He's from Michigan he doesn't understand the difference between a face and full cord. He probably thinks the 100 dollar for a full cord is a face cord.(even though you have it clearly stated) That's where his paying 2 times more is coming from. He's working off 50 a face cord which is what I could buy wood for around here if I wanted to.

Doesn't much matter what you do, someone is bound to have a problem with it. I'd advise you to not give another more moment of thought to it.
you are doing what makes sense for you.
if anynen else is in the same boat they will jump on the deal,

You're fine ... two of my neighbors do just what you outlined in the post. They buy a truck load of tree length wood, split the cost and split the work in processing it.
