Rainy Lake and River are living up to their names this year ... With the amount of snow this year, the water table was high. We've been getting a day of sunshine and then a couple of days with rain. Right now, I'm listening to the thunder moving in... The IJC (monitors water bodies between US/Canada) says we're in uncharted territory with water levels. Environment Canada anticipates a rise of almost 16" more over the weekend. Hubby has been busy... state of emergency. He's been amazed at the volunteers that have shown up for sandbagging.

The government dock decking had to be removed, pumping out basements, sandbagging to protect roads and sanitary sewers, some generators were shut down due to water on power house floor from high tailwater elevations but that holds more water up-river

Emo, Chapple, Rainy River communities on the Ontario side all are having issues... Minnesota has 35 counties declaring states of emergency.

Our lake level is definitely up but not the worst I've seen yet...but creeping closer. Will likely re-trailer the boat tomorrow.

I'm still sitting here singing "Rain, rain go away"...:(
 
That doesn't sound like fun. We are low on rain, only .33 since the beginning of the month. Grass is starting to brown out.
 
We are drowning out here on the Right Coast. And I am watching the next wave coming in on radar at the moment. Straight line winds snapped a power pole down the block in half night before last.

I want's me a drought.
 
We are 11" above average so far and many towns are having to release sewage into waterways or have backups since too many pump their sump pumps into the drains. thats on top of the 130" of snow we had. No one can remember mosquitos ever being as bad as they are either. I spray the dogs and myself down with deepwoods off and i still cant keep them from swarming us as soon as we go out the door! So its a very fast walk down the long drive and by then are out of blood and can barely make it back to the house so I can open the door and have a good dozen of the bastards come in with us every time! I wants me a quick fall and frost!

11" ahead for the year would be very wet. 11" ahead for the month would be biblical. 11' ahead would be snorkeling weather.

They are saying that 85% of the crops did not make it in the fields before June 1st, so they wont be able to insure the crop again. Last year it was 70% went uninsured or just unplanted. That will keep the pressure on corn even though anyone and everyone all over the world is growing it now and some have even started to grow it instead of other "cash" crops.

Had one of those move through here years ago - the morning sky was a lime green (spring time). Lots of trees snapped in half. Tore parts of the group home roof off. They had tornadoes 30 miles south of us.

Wasn't enough water to kayak the river last weekend, several inches of rain over night and suddenly were in minor flood stage.

I heard something on the news the other day. Apparently, Manitoba may have up to 1 million acres of un-planted crop land this year. Absolutely insane. It's been wet here but nothing even close to what you guys are seeing.
 
We got another 3" in the last two days. There's flooding just a few hours from here in the Twin Cities where I lived most of my life.
 
Someone is holding an umbrella over us. It's dry here and has been all day. I just drove 5 miles west and it was pouring.
 
Rains here all the time. It will be a short summer. I am starting to switch my garden choices to PNW plant varieties.
 
I hate to say it, but more is coming. There will likely be some nasty storms along with a strong and deep cold front being pushed over the globe by typhoon Neoguri. This is a massive storm. Nagasaki recorded over 6" of rain in 3 hrs. It's going to get chilly too. Best get your stoves dusted off if you live up north in the central states.
