2014/2015 corn prices?

Its a long way till its in the bin. Crops are recovering from flooding but are a bit behind because late start in planting and now temps are going to be cooler than normal for the next 4 days. 63 for a high on Monday, that's almost 20 degrees below normal. If your interested in the farm markets and crop reports go to "linder farm report" Its pretty much all the info on the Americas farming. I bought my corn Monday for 3.55/bu. If I had waited may have saved another dime this week as it hit this years low. Feeling of having it in the shed and waiting is more than worth the dime or so and the quality is fair. If the cool weather continues the corn could be low in sugar - weight etc.

Corn is $124 ton right now here. Still trending down. We use all the wagons for harvest so I can't buy till the Fall. If the corn comes out dry i will burn right from the field. Won't burn any pellets with the price difference.

Report this morning wasn't pretty for farmers.

Chicago trade wheat was 5.55 a bushel, I can't remember what weight the American standard for wheat is per bu. Wheat around here is looking pretty good but if the rains keep up blight and toxin could be a factor. Need hot and dry starting in about 2 weeks for a good finish on hard spring durham.

Part of the picture has to do with the number of acres planted this spring. 1.2 million acres more than the last three year average in North Dakota and Minnesota came in second with an additional 800000 acres. Now the forecast of 165 bu per acre average for corn is some good numbers if the weather does not as someone just started a thread on a July polar vortex make a impact. Pretty much all the corn belt is out of draught area this season so far. Beef herd numbers are extremely low and pigs are having PED problems so two of the major consumers of corn are not there. I don't know the input cost of corn but fertilizer is high. Three dollar corn will not balance the books for farmers.
