Sometimes it will be printed right on the sheet.

Yes, that would also be a prerequisite before using it on a hearth.

I got mine from Kamco Building Supply in Shrewsbury, MA. I got a 4x8 sheet and I want to say it was less than $30. I threw some scraps in a bonfire one time and they didn't burn :)

Any good commercial building supply place may have it in stock or should be able to order easily. Just google "building supplies" or "construction supplies" and your zip code. Or better yet...use USG's where to buy tool:

Made some phone calls, I only found one place that seemed to know what I was talking about. They said they are out right now but they are getting 80 sheets next week for $48 a sheet. Does micore make a product other than then fiberboard? I don't want to get there and get the wrong thing. An other place I called said they had a product called homasote, but they didn't know if it was the same thing, anyone heard of it?

Homasote is cellulose based. I wouldn't use it. Micore is mineral based. They make it in different densities which have different insulation values. Micore 160 = R 1.27 for 1/2" and Micore 360 = R 1.03 for 1/2". Another product on the market is Fiberfrax DuraBoard LD at R= 1.1 per 1/2".

Thanks begreen. I'll call the guy back, that said they're getting 80 sheets, and see what kind he says he getting.
Do you know if the Rolux they sell at Lowes is the right stuff to use around the pipe above the block off plate?
