Is a smoke detector right above a wood stove okay?

Ironically the location in the ceiling where my chimney support box goes is right through an existing smoke detector. I've got the ceiling opened up from below and above now and the smoke detector and the joist support bracket it was mounted to are out of the way. There is enough Romex to simply move the detector to the next joist over or maybe even 2 joists over.

I've read a few smoke detector threads on here already to boost my IQ in that area. Seems to me people don't usually install smoke detectors in kitchens because of the particulates in the air around a stove. But what about near a wood stove? I know if you have a good draft you won't have smoke filling the room when you open the stove door (slowly) to work with a live fire.

Should I just delete this detector and wire nut everything into a junction box and forget I ever had a smoke detector there? Or should I just move it over a few feet just use care opening the stove door so smoke doesn't billow out?

If there are several other well placed detectors in the house I would consider eliminating this one.

There are 2 detectors within 10' of where this one was, albeit in bedrooms. As well as 4 more around the house on that floor as well.

Put a redneck fire alarm over the stove.

Edit to add: Been waiting for the right place for that pic for seven years. ;lol

I had one right over my shop stove this last year and I expected it to be a problem but not even the intitial burn in of that stove and single wall pipe triggered them. Idling the diesel truck in the shop for a few seconds too long did trip those alarms though.

I s'pose disconnecting the stovepipe would have done the same.

I'm a NICET 3 alarm tech. Don't remove it, make sure its an ion device though, a photo will be a nuisance. Early detection is the key to saving lives. You may get a few falsies but only when you get a backpuff from opening the door.

My closest smoke and CO fire alarm is about 20ft, I'd rather it closer than farther.....

You can see my smoke detector in relation to my stove. Went off once during my learning curve of operating the stove, never since. I actually feel good knowing it's there when I go to bed with the fire cooking along.
