I'm going to buy the F45 next month. I have had the Jotul #8 and worked well but shorter burn time. The F45 they say up 9 hours. This should work out well for me.

Hello Is that an original 8 or 8TDC?? Doesn't matter, the Greenville should be a kick in the pants better heater than the venerable 8's were. That might be a liberal burn time- it should be between 6-9 hours. Good luck with it, let us know how you like it, its still a relatively new model..

Hi jotulboy, I put a f45 in last season replacing my f3cb. The F45 is a great stove and heater. I got 9-10 hour burns with no problem but the
stove likes well seasoned wood.

Indeed. Jotulboy will need to confirm that his wood supply is fully seasoned to see the maximum benefit of the F45.

Doesn't surprise me that it did. The orig 8 (with the air slider circle in the bottom of the door) continues to hang in there heating peoples' homes., despite them debuting in the 80's. There are still many parts available from Jotul too supporting those stoves. I think you'll enjoy the F45 more, but I'll echo everyone that seasoned wood is a must. Good luck with her, her and her big sister Carrabassett (F55) are gaining popularity.

Well the f45 is all installed. It's already for the fall! have all my fire wood here also.

Because it's a jacketed stove. The layer of castiron is an outer layer. There is a steel stove inside the jacket.
