Ok or, no? Looking to use Comforter 1976 for supplemental heat. Have 8" chimney pipe. Possible/advisable to go from 7" oval to 8" round. Total chimney hgt: 10-12'.

Are you using 8 inch pipe that's squished a bit to fit the 7 inch oval?
In all, if so, that should be fine, although that chimney height is a bit low by modern stove specs, but might works just fine for an older unit.
It sounds like this stove is a new addition to your home that will hook to a flue that used to service a woodstove? Just asking, because if your insurance company doesn't know you are using wood heat, they need to know or you may not be covered.
Does this stove have a UL tag on it somewhere?

Thanks for quick reply! Seriously considering purchase of older Comforter in good shape - 7" oval flue. I have some new triple wall 8" pipe that was never used. Was going to buy up-size adapter to connect.
Currently no chimney. Roughly 5' single wall inside through 2/12 pitch roof, 6-8' above roof surface. Stove to be used in small cottage to supplement propane furnace in winter.

I'd say check with the insurance company first to make sure that they are OK with you running this stove, then hopefully folks here can give you advice for clearance to combustibles and such for installation, to make sure it will fit where you want it to go, then purchase, etc.
As BG said, make certain the chimney you are planning to use is up to the task of a wood burner before you go any further as well. Also, depending on the total run here, a 7 inch oval might well be an 6 inch pipe squished down,,,,, if the run isn't too long, you might have trouble with an 8 inch flue. Just a head's up.

Will check pipe for classification. Insurance company ok - sending me clearance specs. Plan to visit local stove shop w/semi-retired owner before starting project.
