My front porch isn't quite the right place for wood storage, and I have plenty to store, so I finally built a woodshed. The nearby craftsmen were charging about $800 for a 4'x8' shed, so I built my own. It's not the most refined architecture, but it will work.

First of all, 4 cedar posts in the ground with cement, and pressure treated 2x4's completed the frame.

Some more 2x4 for the floor frame, and a simple plywood roof. The dimensions are 8' x 4.5'
8x4 would have been much simpler to build, but with 16" to 18" splits, I wanted 3 full rows. Not 2 rows.

I did get my wood from a local Amish sawmill. He charged me about $.55 a board foot. So, for a 6" wide 8' board that was 1" thick, I paid about $2.

First coat of paint, and 1.5 rows of wood stored. I still need to shingle the roof and finish the sides. Another coat of paint would be good too.
Fully stacked, I should be able to get 1 1/2 cords of wood under roof.

First pink shed I've seen.

Good job. It feels pretty good to see dry wood when it's raining. Even better when there's snow. I also ran into the 16" multiple thing. My shed's overhang slowly diminished as that worked itself out! ;-)

defo on the pinky side of red.......
