A pressure relief valve should be installed on the boiler where it cannot be isolated, or valved off. Put a drain tube to the floor so if it pops off it doesn't cause a mess.

If you are not connected to an auto fill, then a LWC low water cutoff is good insurance.

Pressure relief valve would be #1. Plan on using it also where the discharge path is safe or meets code.

#2 would be the safeties that come on the boiler and are according to the manufacturer's instructions. If it's a self install. make sure you understand what the manufacturer intended and provided for. Unless you come to the point where you fully understand the operating sequence of operation and feel it's right, you can assume you may be either freezing or making steam.

#2 would also include code required field installed devices like maybe a CO detector, house smoke detectors, manual safety switches., Manual reset high limit and operating aquastat should be on the boiler but may have to be field installed.

Once you have safeties you would get into the area of operating convenience and owner satisfaction. In this area I would most likely require an OAT reset controller and zone controls.

Have not been following the thread but saw the post where you decided to go with the 20 30 KW boiler. Which one, pellet, cordwood, or the Flexfuel combo? I forget the details of your previous thread. Contractor install ?
