25PDVC craigslist.. Score??

While cruising craigslist I ran across a use Englander 25 pdvc. The guy was moving and wanted to sell it. Used one season.

Knowing not so much about pellet stoves other then what I read here, I requested we turn it on.

We turned it on just for about a min. He told me if we let it cycle all the way up, it will take some time to shut down. I opened the door and heard a sucking sound, I assume this is the exhaust blower.

He said it auto ignites, and works good.

Anyway, I walked away with the stove, duravent venting kit and about 60 bags of blazer pellets for 500 bucks. Not bad??? I'm hoping thats not bad.

Anyway, the stove was pretty dirty on the inside. It's in my shop at the moment. I would like to clean it out thoroughly and do any basic required maint before installing it this month. Any tips or tricks to this thing?
It's pretty dusty around what looks to be some intakes.. I imagine it needs to be totally tore down and cleaned?
 
Good score.Good workhorse stove,a bit noisy.Pull combustion blower,convection blower,burn pot may be 2 piece and have a lift out,clean everything,vacuum stove as good as you can,then blow out with compressed air,you will be amazed.Remove auger motors and see if augers spin free(vacuum out pellets first).If they do,good to go as on bearings.Unhook hoses off of vacuum switches before compressed air,they could be damaged.Check gaskets,look up dollar bill trick.Comb. and conv. motors may have bearings,if spin free,ok.If have bushings,oil.Good basic dependable stove.Mike on here works for england,and can help with any problems.Yes will hook up to t-stat.Only got out of bed to look at big moon,cant sleep now! http://www.englandsstoveworks.com/manuals/25-PDVC.pdf

Hello

Check the augers for burrs and assure the knit line is smooth. Even new stove augers from the factory can have burrs and never run right.
If you see any just grind them down with a grinding stone and the stove will work super!
My neighbors 25-PDVC he purchased brand new has not had any jams since we "pimped his augers".

Also pull the ignitor and wire brush it. Check the alignment first, then pull and clean it. Then put it back and make sure it is centered in the tube when you look at it from the front.
I like to take the little black drill cap off the top of the ignitor tube to give it more air for faster starts. Check the air supply hole in the bottom of the igniter tube by pushing a stiff wire thru it to assure it is clear. Then the stove will fire right up. Should take 4-8 mins after you press on to see a flame, if not it may be dirty or clogged or misaligned as I stated above.

Hey don, so how far should the igniter stick out of the hole? Or does it just stay inside? It has been running for about ten mins with no joy. The area near the igniter is warm but not super hot..

The igniter should be centered in the hole and set back from the front of the hole about 1/8" and from pressing on to fire should take approx 6 minutes. You can take the igniter out and wire brush it clean and als check if the air hole in the bottom of the igniter tube that goes into the top of the OAK air tube is not blocked by sticking a wire in it. I also like to remove the drill cap on the top of the igniter tube to let even more air in to start the stove quicker and ESW goes along with that but does not promote it.

If the stove is older with the rubber air hose to feed the igniter tube just blow that out.
