I am located,on ma /ri line and I am looking for a tree service to drop off rounds of wood?...

+1 on Jags' post.

Firewood length rounds? Probably not. You're more likely to get logs and odds that you have to cut to your preferred length. You'll need a chainsaw.

Heck with the tree service....I call the Towns Highway Department Supervisor and ask to be put on a wood drop-off list. When the town cuts trees, instead of taking it back to the yard to mulch...they drop then in my driveway..FREE!!! Start there...

Keep trying but don't get your hopes up. I've been trying to get this set up for over a year now and any free stuff I get is all done by myself by seeing stuff down on the sides of the road.

Send a blast email to all of the tree services in your area and post an ad on craigslist. That's worked well for me in the past just be prepared to handle the 30+ inchers!

I wouldn't hesitate to talk to someone on the job site. Be very careful not to get near their current operations and equipment (saws, chipper, trucks, etc.).

Talk to a guy who seems to be on break and/or away from the action and ask him something like, "If that wood isn't spoken for and you need a place to dump it, I'm not too far away and surely could use it to heat my house." If you are near the job site, they might oblige. The worst they can do is say no, and you thank them for their time.
