I just now took my credit card out and bought 4 tons of Dry Creeks at the local hardware store. $239/ton + delivery.

Of course, I'm still working on the boiler install, which I should be doing instead of writing this. :)

Welcome to dark side.

Yeah...I even upted my stock to 4 ton barefoots over the 3 ton of Alleghenys I had last winter.

So what is the minimum for a pellet pig? I am getting three tons of North Idaho Energy pellets in the next couple weeks and I am going to be stacking them to the rafters to fit in the space I have available.

minimum of 3 tons in stock before the first frost.....= PIG

<------ PIG x2

I just stacked three of the four. They managed to get three outside the walk out basement door. I stacked them on pallets in the basement and moved them into position with a pallet jack. Even though it goes quick, you're still picking up 40 lbs every time you handle it. Last one is on the driveway. Gonna try and do it now. Later.

Isn't part of the "pig" requirement that you haul them yourself; as in no delivery?
That would put a serious crimp in my plans as my little SUV could probably only haul half a ton at a time and the local pellet place will only give you the ton price if you take the ton all at once. Have to pay someone to bring a truck and trailer for me to get them loaded on.

I've only been hanging here for about 4 years now. The Pellet Pig definition pre-dates me by far and back in the day you had to get "approval" from the "Grand Poobah", JTakeman and others. The delivery requirement did hold some water at one time but I think it got relaxed. A lot of those guys who used to have fun with the PIG status don't really post too much here any more......it's too bad. It was a lot of fun.
