Moving large amounts of (split) wood long distance?

I used to load wood into a nice and low chevy and now I load into an F350 that at factory settings is much taller. You will appreciate a low loading height almost as much as a dumpable bed.

A dump trailer that holds even two cords will allow a low loading height and give you a much needed rest every couple of cords. Sure, you'll be driving but your bones will be resting.

Can a good driver "dump" wood from a roll off dumpster?

I thought so, somehow the trash must be dumped at the dump. That makes the dumpster option very attractive.

Two answers to that:

1. Just ask what the replacement wood is going to cost you. Why should you sell for less than the best price you can find?

2. You'd have to lose a heck of a lot of money on the sale, to make the cost and trouble of hauling it pay off. Gas ain't cheap. Neither is renting trucks or trailers.

Plus pizza and beer for my dad, FIL, and two BILs who have agreed to help that day. My only other thought would be to try to hire a tandem dump for the day-obviously I can't drive it myself, but it would only need one trip and unloading would be a bit easier because the driver could just dump in my driveway. I'm all ears for ideas...

Just rent a 6x12' trailer from U-Haul. Its inexpensive and can carry a cord per trip.
 
... or you could move your house to the wood. :p
