thought long and hard about it, you're right. been doing it all wrong. took me a stroll last night and struck gold! found a barely eaten chicken sandwich in a dumpster that was actually pretty tasty, then i stumbled upon a pair of gently used underwear in clear view right along the roadside. ducked behind a tree and put them on. a perfect fit. i figure i saved myself at least 6 dollars yesterday. i have a new hobby, thanks. it is a good time.
Yep midnight salvage - works pretty well most of the time.

Yeah I don't pay for wood so I'm not as selective as you fancy pants PA boys are apparently;)
Hey now! All us PA boys ain't fancy, I consider myself a proud scrounger and don't turn my nose up to much. That said, I have been just a tad more selective since I'm at the holy grail 3 years ahead but I scrounge on anyway. I'm a little pissed I had to leave the job I was just running to go to the next one, they just cut down a decent size maple and several sycamore that I won't be able to scrounge. I did come home with 3 truck loads in 3 days in spite of the higher temps this past week. Theres a few guys on that job that were going to take some but I think there will be some to scrounge if anyone lives near Oreland PA (Ft Washington area)

I wouldn't worry about missing out on sycamore one bit, especially since you say you are in fine shape. Lower end of the BTU chart, coupled with it being at about the highest position on the hard to split chart along with its high moisture content making it very heavy put it on the low end of my list.

I agree, but the maple is what I was hoping to get more of. I got just enough sycamore to deter me from ever getting it again haha!
