Hi. I have Castile Quadrafire that will not light. The ignitor does not get hot, so I replaced. It still doesn't get hot. Looking a little closer I noticed that when it starts up from power down / cold , I get the blue blinking lights on the control panel but then the thermocouple light turns RED (as if it is at full temperature right?). The blower runs and it continues to feed pellets. I checked the thermocouple itself and it isn't broken, although I don't know how a COLD thermocouple could send a signal that the fire is hot? I would appreciate any insight or thoughts on how to debug. Thank you!

Pretty sure red is calling for heat...make sure you getting a vacuum. Does augur feed pellets?

the op stated that it dose feed pellets, sound more like a control issue
Ah yeah missed that. might be a wonky control board.

Yes, if Igniter is plugged in all the way. Check that first. Also check the Thermocouple is plugged in all the way.
Then you may need a new control box.

Is this a new Castile? Your first winter with it?

Ursinus grad here! :)

Did you actually jumper the vacuum switch to bypass it/......I have had issues with mine getting filled with fines....once a season I take it out and tap the hose connector on a table and fines fall out..more than you'd expect!!.

No one has mentioned an all to often problem >>> Unplug the stove, take out the control box, clean the contacts with an eraser, Spray contact cleaner (Radio Shack) on the female connectors where the box plugs into, replace the control box, and plug it back in. DO NOT REMOVE THE CONTROL BOX WITHOUT UNPLUGGING! (If you did that, it's the cause of your problem :( ).

You should have a can of compressed air like you use to blow out your keyboard and when you do your weekly cleaning, unplug the hose AT THE VACUUM SWITCH and blow air through it to clear it.

On reading this I was feeling a bit guilty having never cleaned my keyboard!
The old computer tower has been sounding a bit grumbly lately too so I popped off the sides.
Wow! That puppy was dirtier than a pellet stove
Hopefully it will keep going for another 10 years now. It lost its voice 5 years ago but is fine otherwise.
Yes, it is amazing how much accumulates inside the tower! I take mine outside and hit it with compressed air and it looks like a dust devil!

The blue blinking light indicates what setting the control box is set to. Quadrature uses the same control box for the Santa Fe, Castile and CB1200. It should blink 4 times at start up or 5 times if it has been turned up for a 10% increase. The red light is the call for heat light and indicates that the thermostat is calling for heat. The vacuum switch only interrupts the anger motor, not the ignitor. I would unplug the ignition leads and test the supply to see if there is current there. I suspect your control box is toast.

It depends what red light he's talking about on his QuadraFire. He made is sound as if he knew about the red light for up to temp vs the green for 'start feeding'. He hasn't answered any of the questions since his initial post so who knows????? I wouldn't be throwing out the control box just yet. He needs to update us with answers and what history led up to the current problem.
