I just installed my second wood stove insert this weekend. During install I accidentally knocked over the door and broke the glass. I've ordered new glass already. However, I'm worried about the door latch. It doesn't feel very secure at all. Here's a short YouTube video showing the issue.

I don't feel safe starting a fire in this given how easy it is to open the door. Should I contact the manufacturer or is there some easy remedy for this?

I've seen some doors like that but I think gravity is enough to keep the handle from backing off. I would just keep an eye on it and see what happens...

I have the same insert and I think you will be fine. Once the door gasket gets squished some and the stove gets up to temp , the handle will need to be pushed lower and be more secure.

ok, here's the fix, the brick which is behind the door wedge is a whole brick so the handle is hitting that brick before it pulls tight. looking in the firebox i see a brick on the back wall that has a big notch cut out of it. this brick should be behind the door wedge to allow travel room for the door handle to engage the wedge.

look at the 16 second mark on the video, the brick is shown there , that brick should be behind the door wedge

I fabbed up this handle and it adds a little weight with the cast ball on the end that seems to secure the latch very well although I am sure it is unnecessary - I just did not like the gold spring thing

This fixed it, thanks!

So THAT'S why the one cut brick!

Yeah they need to change the brick layout pic to show that one with the corner lopped off.

If you are considering revising the manual please include a diagram with full stove dimensions in the revision.
