Hello all,

I would like to know if the chimney configuration that I have planned is considered acceptable?

In the attached picture I have shown what I would like to install. The issue I have is that there is no direct outside wall available where I would like to place a wood stove. My plan is to run the chimney pipe through an interior wall as if it were the outside wall (using the proper thimble) and then transition to a through the roof installation. Not shown are all of the appropriate chimney wall straps and specific accommodations for the wall anchors and the roof eave.

I appreciate any insight into my proposed installation.

Thanks!
Dave

Greetings. That looks kosher to me as long as the top of the chimney honors the 10-3-2 rule. What type of structure is the shed on the side of the house?

OK, sounds like it will be easy to clean the flue then. Is there any other possible location maybe more central in the house?

Sounds like no opportunity to take the chimney up straight thru the house?

Are you planning on just leaving the stove pipe exposed in the foyer or will be building some sort of enclosure to hide it? If exposed it seems to me it will look rather odd sitting out in the open right where people enter the house.

In the foyer will be the stainless steel chimney pipe, not stove pipe. At this time, I would leave it exposed since that is a seldom used entrance. It could be a project for the future to enclose it in a chase.
