So the time has come and gone and I had my stove finally installed. The Installer Bryan Shoum was AWESOME !!! He installs stoves for Squier Lumber (where I bought the stove) but he also does other jobs/installs. I am unsure if he installs other stoves besides Harmans but if you are interested in his info please let me know.

The stove itself is VERY nice and the install went VERY smooth and clean. I am glad I ended up going with the OAK now and not down the road. He stated I can spray the silver piping black (with stove bright they gave me) after the stove has run for about a week and all the oils burned off. I ran the stove yesterday (hot as hell outside) for over an hour and it smelled terrible !! I actually had to leave the house because I was getting dizzy and hot even with the windows open.

He showed me how to run the stove and clean the stove so that I do not have issues down the line. He put a T fitting on the back of the stove near the controlls so that I can use a brush on a drill and push the ash out of the house easily.

Please let me know if you have any questions about the pics below.

Jay

Jay, great news! Thanks for sharing the install experience and pictures. Looks like a great setup and that stove is going to keep you warm for sure!

Nice Setup. Beauty of a stove. Congrats! Purchased my XXV from Squire as well. Nice folks over there.

Ya I think we cranked up the boiler about the 15th of Oct last year for overnight heat. In Dec we started burning coal cause oil bills weren't looking good ! . Jan we pulled the coal stove and put in the P61a. We never ran oil for the rest of the winter for our house, just for our tenants apartment.

Congrats got my XXV last year. Very happy with it, it can really push out the heat with a quality pellet. I burned 1 ton of NWP as I got them free with the stove, wasn't happy with them but the good thing about our stove-it will burn anything. When I put 2 tons of barefoot pellets through my stove, that's when the stove really shined. Enjoy the warmth!

Looks nice, i just picked up a XXV myself and am currently building my hearth. How far off the flat back portion of the stove does that T stick out?

the closest part of the T is 3.5" off the back of the stove and 7" to the back of the T. The T then sits 2.5" off the wall itself. He used a different piece and I can't recall what it is but it comes off the stove and connects to the T from the back of the stove. The one harman sends he said comes off too far.

Looks great, Jay!

I had my Harman installed without an outside air kit.... the dealer/installer both kind of said it wasn't necessary (and yes, I've read the debates on here both pro-oak and anti-oak) but I'm leaning more with the logic of getting one. I am soooo NOT mechanically inclined so I would need someone with an ounce of experience to tackle that job for me.

Enjoy the 24-hour flame in about 4/5 weeks time :)

For the $200 kit he advised me you better just install it when we do the install rather than go back to do it later. Its another pipe and a bigger eye soar but i think in the end it will be worth it rather than pulling air from every nook and cranny in the house.
