Ok I thought this was gonna be the easy part for me but I guess that I was wrong
I believe that I should be using the short black wire with the probe at the end if I am not using a thermostat. Am I correct about that? I thought this wire was suppose to connect to the blue twisted wire but the ends on the wire with the probe don't work. The wires on the long wire work but I thought that the directions say that I don't need this wire if I am not using a thermostat.
I have the two loose connectors that they sent but I don't want to be splicing anything just yet until I know what I need to do here.
What am I doing wrong here ?

Hello

RTFM always helps!
Page 23
Connecting the Room Sensor
Connecting the room sensor to the blue twisted wires from
the control board:
(2) 3/16 inch male terminals are provided for the ends of the
room sensor wires.
They will mate with the female terminals on the blue twisted
wires. Figure 5.17
These connections are not polarity specific

You do not need a T-Stat with a Harman. :)

Is this the correct wire that I am suppose attach to the blue wires?
If so the ends on this do not work.
Do I need to cut the ends off and attach
the male ends on that are in the picture.
If so what is the purpose of this wire coming with these ends on them?
This is what is confusing me because I have read page 23 a million times and I still don't get it. Ty

That is very confusing, I certainly agree. However since I work on the FS Harman stoves I see what is being said here. The female ends on the room probe are NOT insulated. They must be that way to plug into the Harman Free Standing stoves! However in your insert, the ends must be Insulated to keep from shorting out!

Therefore, the manual is saying to cut the female ends off the room probe wire. Then put the male ends on the room probe wire and connect the room probe to the twisted blue wires with the female ends.
Harman should state the reason is to assure the connections are insulated! Harman never tells us why they do things! LOL

Thanks a lot Don. I had a feeling that's what I had to do but I didn't want to go splicing anything until I got some expert advice. They never mention that you have to cut off the ends
and splice the new ones on in the directions. Now if iI can just remeber where the two ground wires that are connected to the power cord go then I'll be ready to fire it up in a couple of weeks.

You are not alone here, have to be guessing, and trying. And luckily it's not a safety issue. I ended up with connecting temp probe short wire and the long wire together with the two male connector, because wanted to position the probe away from the stove (room sensor mode).

Now the question is, is my understanding of "room sensor mode"or connection correct? Thanks.
