Anybody got a first burn in yet???
there talking low 40's here this week..
got the P43 all cleaned today full deal blowers etc..
4 tons stacked in the cellar.. ready to go ..17 bags mwp softies left from last year..
this year i went with LeCretes 2 tons and 2 tons mwp mix for the shoulder seasons...

Does a quick test fire to make sure everything is in working order count?

Will be burning by the end of the week as predicting highs of 52 and lows of 38, wet and cloudy so no solar gain. Maybe some snow in northern MN. To early for this BS. Great weekend with high of 78 and lows of 58. Farmers finishing wheat.

Coolest temperature forecasted for the coming week here is a low of 46 next Sunday night.

I have an Englander out in my workshop, We roll it out in front of the shop late in the evenings, light it up and enjoy the Camp Fire for a few hours a couple of times a week.
We sit just at the edge of the workshop door, very few bugs, no chopping wood, no smoke in my eyes. Downside is I can't do smores in it.
So yup fired it up for over a month now.
Won't light the ones in the house for another 6 to 8 weeks We hope. The heat pump takes care of things during the spring and fall.

I have gone through 3 bags in the last two weeks. It has been dropping below freezing every night. Usually I just ran it for an hour or two in the morning until it gets above blanket temps inside. Then the sun coming in through the big Windows takes over and keeps me happy till the next morning. It has ignited on its own twice at night set at 60.

Just had a quick burn this morning in my new Piazetta Monia, temp was 9 C here this morning.

Cleaning the stoves this weekend and need a new door gasket on one of them. Yeah.... it is just around the corner and will come quickly this year. Leaves are already turning and falling.

not yet.
it was 44 here last night. but as long as i can warm the house with solar gain the next day, i'll hold out.
if the suin shines, our enclosed font porch is a great heat generator when we close the windows.

i'd love to make it to october before burning, but somewhere in the twenties in september has been the date these last three years.
sept. 8th? it'll be a cold day in hell (or maine) before i ever fire it up that early.

Oct 21st was our first official burn day last year. I'd like to make it at least that long.

With three days of these kinds of temps will not have a choice unless I want arthritis pain big time. DSCN0474.JPG

In years past, I was lighting the wood stove for some shoulder burns around now to mid sept..

It's forecast in the high 80's for the next 7 days here in western Oregon. Boo.

Waiting on a combustion gasket to get here and then I'm ready to go, but hoping to hold off for a few more weeks. Mid 40's here last night so it's definitely coming up quickly!

We burned on a cool day in August to cure the new paint job with the windows open.

Not a bad idea to burn before things get real cold to burn off any dust in the exchangers that may stink

Fired mine up last week. Down to 29 or 30 here tonight/morning and maybe 28 the day after with highs only 60.
