This will be my first full winter burning wood and I decided that I didn't want to deal with pallets and tarps. I have no idea how much wood I'll burn in a winter and my plans started off small and worked up to 8'x16'. Bigger is better right?

Just beautiful.

Did you build or buy? Or did you buy then build? Or did you build and build?

That's a sharp woodshed.!

Thank you.

I just looked through hundreds of pictures on google for the design I wanted then made my own plans from there. All built myself.

it's 8x16x6 so if I fill it to the brim I figure it's about 6 cords. Probably overkill but if so then I can leave some space and park my lawn mower in there or something. Or just have wood for 2-3 years. I'm only heating 1000 square feet plus whatever I use for my shop when I'm working out there.

That's some good wood craft skills you have.

I was hoping you bought it and could provide a link ==c

Again, looks fantastic. Now get er filled to the brim.

great shed. I want to build something similar, on skids.

Wow, that's a hell of a woodshed. Nice job! Should keep your wood good and dry

That's a great shed! I have one the same size. Consider putting a narrow divider in the centre (front to back). It allows you too remove wood from one side if you wish and keeps the rows more stable! I left mine open on the back as well so I can remove wood from both sides

Looks fantastic. If I had even a sliver of talent some of you guys have. Great Job!!

Very sharp looking woodshed.

That's a nice looking shed. Exactly the design I'd like to build someday. Nice work.

Is that birch I see in your stacks? One of my favorites. Great smell and heat.

Great looking Shed

Funny, I did the same thing and mine is nowhere near as nice... Great job!

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually planned on doing that with some leftover 2x6's before I start stacking wood.

Yeah it wasn't cheap but I figure it looks nice and will last a long time so it's worth it. I just like building stuff honestly. It's kind of a hobby. I tell my friends if they want something built, buy the wood and I'll come over and help. Next year I'll probably rebuild and update my pump house.

That's a great looking wood shed. Would you mind sharing your drawing? If not I completely understand. I love the idea of a solid floor that is raised up that does not require any digging. I live in an area called "ringing rocks" so if the name tells you anything digging is not a easy option on my property.

Looks Great!

That is gorgeous, nice work.
Give yourself several pats on the back.
Glance out in the winter while you're toasty warm and smile looking at that shweet shed.

great job! I had back to back hailstorms the last 2 summers that has kept us busy lining up repairs and doing some ourselves. Good news is I will have plenty of slightly dented barn steel for a wood shed too. Yours will be much prettier though

Nice shed WASP.

Do you happen to know and would you mind sharing the materials cost for your shed?
I keep putting together some sketches of sheds and trying to add it up, curious what your cost.

That's a good question. I always envision projects that I start to take less time and money than they actually do. And the cost is always spread out over several trips to the hardware store. I'll go back and look through receipts to try to get a rough estimate.

I am guessing north of $750. Looks like $300 in roofing alone

This is just what I did and there's always ways to save money by doing things differently. Roofing for one. I used high end shingles because I wanted it to match my shop and my house. You could use cheap shingles or metal roofing, OSB instead of ply, used motor oil instead of wood waterproofer, nails instead of strews, etc etc.

Rough estimate and breakdown:
Lumber base$277.39
2x6x16 – 17 = $152.66
2x6x8 – 9 = $40.23
4x4x8 pressure treated – 4 = $36.68
foundation blocks – 6 = $47.82

Lumber Shed $191.70
2x6x8 – 9 = $40.23
4x4x12 – 3 = $40.59
4x4x8 – 12 = $110.88

Roofing$401.74
4x8x1/2” ply – 7 = $149.45
shingles – 7 = $183.75
felt – 1 roll of 15lb = $20.25
flashing – 7 = $38.29
facia boards = $10

Siding $103.48
3/4x6x6 cedar boards – 52

Screws/nails/fasteners$46
16d = on hand
galv 2 ½ for sheething = on hand
roofing nails = on hand
Decking screws – 5lbs = $30
Strong ties – 8 = $16

Wood stain/protector$110
1- 5 Gallon bucket

Total = $1130.31

whats wrong with you?? thats wayyyy to nice to use for wood. I'd set up a few lawn chairs, small table and a cooler and go from there.
