Tractor Supply in Coventry, RI recd 44 tons today of Somerset Pellets. They're priced per ton pallet at $240. From what I've heard from folks on this board I was excited to see those loaded into my truck rather than Green Supreme or the TSC brand. Hope this is helpful to other folks getting their stashes in order.

Damn!!!, cant believe they pass over CT and over to you....lucky!!, month ago i saw the price drop one day to $4.19 a bag online, i printed it brought to store and showed them, they said that was for somerset's!!, $219 a ton!!!.
I would buy as many as you can as there the best pellet for that price anywere!!

Hello pellet King. You must believe, after all we see on this forum. Call, and ask for a reason why send e-mails corporate Heads,
they do read some times. Tell them Why you are asking, show them why .

I loved my somersets! Don't think I'll be getting this year...just not available in CT. I scored them somehow. Someone took pity on me, a newbie pellet buyer, and gave a tip.
I miss seeing them stacked in my garage. I just tried calling a local lowe's and the lady said "no, we get whatever they send us". I know for a fact that isn't true - they know when the somerset truck is coming...so I guess I'll have to call again and hopefully speak to the right person.

In the meantime, congrats to all that got the 'sets :)

You must get in your car, with a copy of the somerset pellet co. information, from the internet.
You must find the real lowes store mgr. And you must ask him if he could help you buy somerset pellets,
at his store. This Person can call direct, and ask for Kathy, and place and order for his store.
Hope this helps

That would be awesome. Last year, I worked with the garden manager to have some reserved before deliver - they normally don't do that but I think I was confused and desperate enough for pellets that they helped. :) They told me th problem with somersets is that they lose money on the somersets up here - the cost to have them delivered so far up north is not worth it for them. Last year, it was to help keep the customers happy but they said they didn't know if they could do it again. I'll try it your way!

Also, I spoke to someone at somerset pellets today and they put me through to Sandy. She did mention another store that was close and within my delivery range - but then the issue is getting that lowes to deliver 50 miles away. They deliver is there is the same item available at my local store - since the pellets use the same item number, I don't know if I am going to be able to work it out, but I"m going to try.

Thanks for the advice :)

Thanks Ed!!
Awesome advice. I appreciate the insight. I may have my season buy done for this year but next year I'll have this in my back pocket

The mileage from the mill is the greatest expense for all pellet sales. I have heard $ 2.75 a loaded mile, but
never contracted or confirmed. The miles for us is 731 miles, from somerset Ky
Good Luck

Maybe with pellets pushing $250/ton, we'll be seeing more Sets. I can see where at $209/ton, why bother?

We can only hope :)

I'm going to try and hit up my local Lowes today. I'll let you know how I make out!

I feel that way to- I think at the big box stores some employees know how to look things up and are willing to help while others give you the standard military issue answer -- "you get what you get, and you don't get upset"/ "I can't tell you what the future will hold..."

That's the response I got the last two times I called the Lowes farther away from me (that I KNOW are getting some somersets). I'm going to try and again and ask for the manager. Last time, she woudln't let me speak with him.

So, I tried this at my local lowes - they wouldn't do it. Said they were losing money on the two truckloads they had come in last year - so they won't do it again. Right now, I'm stalking another lowes that is somewhat nearby, that is getting one truckload. They refuse to let me speak to someone that might have information - I'm getting locked out speaking to general customer service on the phone. It's very frustrating.

Last year I drove to Lowes 4 time (76 mile round trip) till the truck came in with the Sets. was a big waste of time an money last year. this year ordered a truck load and saved time an money
