I went through 4 ton last winter and had to go to heat pumps for the last 30 days or so. This year I intend to have 5 ton on hand by the end of the month. First one was stacked today. Hamer's for $239!

I have 5 tons set by in the garage and am contemplating adding more. Don't ever want to worry like I did last winter! We didn't run out, but only had 15 bags left when we turned it off. Unacceptable!

I've had 6 tons of new stuff plus 22 bags left over from last year stacked up downstairs since April.

Yep, about two and half tons of pellets and about 4 tons corn

Normally use 3 1/2 tons a year. Last year I had 4 and change in the shed. I ended up with about 10 bags left, so I bought a full 4 tons for this year. I don't anticipate using more than that, especially since I didn't use it all up last year.

Do you have rodent issues with all the corn? I know if I leave even grass seed out over the winter it is all over the place.

Little difficult to crawl all the way up into the top of the wagon. Have a bucket trap in the shed and a frequent visiting owl that just ate a cat that someone dumped here.

Send that owl this way. There's a few neighborhood cats I'd like to see disappear.

Not sure why but that made me laugh.

To the point of this thread, ya, I am a bit piggish this year with 6 tons. Burned over 3 ton last year compared to the previous seasons 2.5. Also had friends and family in need of my reserves. Felt a little uncomfortable knowing there was no stock to be found. So "oink oink squeal".

Today was the day, that Lowes call for the arrival of, the Greenway Pellets Ordered on Sept 3.

Got my 5 tons and my neighbor got 2Tons, until space is freed up for the next 2 tons.
This is what I call SERVICE, from the Salisbury Md Lowes. store.

What are the Greens going for at Lowes?

This will be my first full winter with my stove so I stocked up with a little over 7 tons, if I don't need that much great! Not like they will go bad sitting in the garage.

First year burning pellets here so I think I over did it enough and got 6 tons.anyone here ever burn more than 6 tons in a season

Went through over 10 tons last year. Currently have just over 11 ton on hand. Thinking about getting one more ton for peace of mind.

Holy geese how many pellet stoves do u have and r u trying to heat ur house or the county u live in wow that's 160,000,000 btus u burnt last year

If you read my profile information, I have a Castile insert and a Harman boiler. Boiler heats the whole house, garage, and DHW (domestic hot water). Castile is in our living room and uses about 1 1/2 ton per year. The rest is the boiler. It is not uncommon for the pellet boiler people to use well over 6 ton per year.

Although I believe I'm ok with the 4+ tons I have.... after reading about you gentlemen (gentlepigs?) with 6, 7, 11!!! (and wanting more), I've just gone from feeling OK to... well... inadequate! Thanks!

Business as usual here... I always make sure I have more than I need to start the season. Have over 4 tons and about 5 cord of wood.
ok ok - what comes after feeling "inadequate"? 4 tons plus 5 cord....

Out of curiosity do you use the boiler for the rest of the year to heat your water? If so how much is actually used for the "winter", I have been thinking of going the boiler route.....

I usually start the boiler in the middle of October and shut it down in the middle of April. This last spring, I shut it down about 10 days later than normal.

I usually end up working outside quite a bit during the winter and like to come home to a nice warm house. If I were using propane instead of wood pellets, I would probably keep the house 3 to 5 degrees cooler. House temperature is in the 72 to 74 range depending upon which room you are in. Bedrooms, we keep cooler to be able to sleep better.

Boomer I think they can fit 20 ton on a tractor trailer I'll split one w ya next spring so we don't feel inadequate
