Just like last year. A bunch of FUD and people are running out thinking the sky is falling. Walmart by me is $210. The Lowes next store will have to price match them. Tractor Supply a mile down the road will do the same thing.

As of this morning, HD in Nashua and Hooksett NH are showing 89 and 51 tons of MWP respectively, both for $239/ton. This was according to the website inventory, so I'd call first.

A pellet pig's job is NEVER finished, day or night, especially when he finds some "Sets"..... worth the extra "Jefferson" over the FSU. Been three looooong years since we last saw them up here. My Turn! :)

Stove Chows just came into HD here outside Phila..
jumped to 239.00 from 229.00 last season..

Inflation is about 2% that leaves about a $5 increase. As far as Im concerned that is not an increase.

Wouldn't they have to be the same brand?
Typically they don't care. Their pellets all sell for the same price anyway, despite the brand. The one exception being Greene Teams at Lowes, which always go for $1 more per bag.

ohh nooo :( My anxeity is through the roof....I waited way too long to buy. It was a busy summer of house repairs and vet bills that just kept rolling in. When it's 90 degrees it's easy to but off buying tons and tons of pellets and instead spend your money on things like installing better drainage and venting...Now, I'm too late and feeling pretty screwed at the moment....pretty sure I'll never get 'sets again -- I lucked out as a first time buyer and got 4 tons last year from Lowes...but that was really lucky for CT. Guess I gotta suck it up and buy now before prices go even higher. Can't blame anyone but myself...
....maybe I'll grab a drink and sit on the patio after dinner while I scour the prices while enjoying the last bit of nice weather...

BTW: we've only had our p61 a few months (installed around Feb or so), but I found we really didn't like the GS or GT at all in it. WE burned them in the later part of the season after we ran out of pellets. Definitely hoping to avoid getting them this year :)

Not in my experience - box stores will match regardless of brand

It may be, but I certainly doubt it would be the correct interpretation. Someone is not getting it.
If they price matched, regardless of brands, you'd be able to buy Team Green for the same price as
Green Supremes. In the same store.
Or, if they ever carried La Crete, just as an example, they'd have to sell them for $209?
I really doubt that..

You can't get a DeWalt $99 18 volt drill for $29 dollars, because Sears has a Ryobi for 29 bucks.
Price match is on identical items.(generally)

The last time I was at Lowes I bought a few bags of 3 different brands. She scanned them all at checkout, but the receipt just had just one entry: for 6 bags of "wood pellets". Their system can't tell the difference (except for those Greene Team Platinums, which have a separate entry). I assume if Lowes ever carried La Cretes, they would not be entered as "wood pellets".

This has been exactly my experience. All the pellets they sell (except Greene Teams) are the same SKU and same price. Greene Teams are the only ones that are a different SKU and sell for a different price. I agree, if Lowes were ever to carry La Cretes, based on quality alone, I would expect them to be sold under a different SKU at a higher price. Suspect pigs will fly before that ever happens, though.

That very well could be... But it isn't their common practice. I bought two bags last year for testing.
A bag of GS and one of Inferno.. Two different prices..

From the Lowes website:
If you find a lower everyday price on an identical item at a local retail competitor,
just bring us the competitor's current ad, and we will beat it by 10%.

All I can say is in the southern part of the state they will price match anyone local . I have done it every year for the past 4 years . Most of the time they never even call to check the price just agree ( or they already knew )
Hint if you have a coupon or are a vet ( Thank You ) tell them after you are scanned in and priced matched and get another 10% off
