Anyone know what this tree in my yard is? It drops the little blue berry-like things in the last picture image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg
 
That's black gum (aka tupelo). In the southern coastal plain swamps, there's swamp tupelo which has fruits more like kalamata olives! Those would really make a mess on your wood pile.

Has the looks like of a persimmon tree but it definitely ain't persimmon fruit. You sure you don't have a vine of some sort growing in the tree dropping the fruit?
 
Nope not a vine. I looked up some black gum and it seems like Pete may be right with his call

Is black gum anything like sweet gum?
 
I've got some black gum trees but the bark isn't that blocky. I'm not doubting that's what
you have though. Trees look different in different areas
