Do I need to redo tadpole gasket?

Admittedly this is my first attempt at putting in a new gasket, I may have botched it. The top corners were puffed out to far I trimmed them back best I could. did you try the dollar bill test around, especially that corner?

maybe burn an incense stick and see if any smoke comes out that corner.

ps I just went apple picking at Weed Orchards in the Marlboro last week.
 
Vinnie I did, and then it seemed tight. But that was with the stove off. When I fired it up to test this morning i got a slight smell of smoke. There's lots of picking orchards up here.
 
Smell of smoke is usually on the exhaust side of things.
 
Geezer, as Bioburner said, the smell of smoke would be coming from the exhaust side. If your gasket is not right, it will not let smoke out, but instead, will suck air in, as there is negative pressure in the burn chamber. If this was happening you may experience changes in your burn pattern such as a lazy flame, pellet pile up, or dirty glass. So if it passes the dollar bill test, you are probably good to go.

Also, if there is no vacuum because the door seal leaks, the stove will shut down.
 
Thanks guys, yeah with the dollar bill test, the bill does not move/slide at all. I believe I could rip the bill before it would. I could be being overly cautious, I'm afraid of damaging or warping the stove metal as much as anything.

You won't damage the stove. Next time, send me a pm, and I will send you picture instructions on how to install that tadpole gasket. kap
