I hit my hand with the fiskars, pulling the axe out of a round. Through my gloves, 5 stitches. I feel stupid.

I posted a picture a few years ago of my son's hand he sliced open with a Fiskars. He got about 5 stitches too.
Perhaps we should start a class action lawsuit against the company?

Honestly I am not even sure how it happened, I just heard the glove rip. Hard to do any work without your index finger.

Tape it up to the next one - real good and stiff. You will be surprised at what you can still do.

Ouch !! Firewood processing can definitely be dangerous work. I'm laid up myself right now with chainsaw cuts to my right knee.

Which I am sure now puts you squarely in the camp of "gotta get me some of those chainsaw chaps"?

I found butcher gloves that are like mid-evil chain mail, maybe that's over kill

Jags, you got that right. I have a good friend who has a pair that are too short for him. He said I can have them and I am definitely taking him up on that deal.

I by some stroke of luck found a pair of chaps out hiking. Some tree people were doing some work along the power lines in the woods a month ago and someone left a pair of chaps behind...in pretty good shape too. The are Labonville full wrap chaps and go for $80 plus shipping. I took them home and cleaned them up but they are sized "long". I'm a full grown midget at 5'7" so they are too long for me.

I'm thinking of finding a local tailor to cut them back a few inches. I'm too cheap to buy a whole new pair so I'm hoping I can make these work.

Usually all I find are cigarette butts, McDonalds trash and for some reason socks or underwear . . . maybe I need to change where I hike. ;) :)

Twenty years ago I was walking back up to the house through the woods and found socks and underwear too. Rounded a big oak and found the two kids they belonged to. Stepped over them saying "Damn it, you are in my front yard."and kept walking. Behind me I heard a tiny voice say "Sorry.". ;lol
