After last winter who is going into Ultra-Pig mode this year?

I have 4 tons. Kinda thinking I should have gotten 5, but we'll see. Stove isn't even hooked up yet. The oil tank is full for backup so I don't think I'm going to be in a terrible situation either way. Stove will be in by next weekend. Should be able to make it until 2nd or 3rd week of October before it starts getting regular overnight usage. Most likely 2nd since I'm Upstate NY.

Here's my stash !!!

Usually have 4 and try to get a fifth around November if it hasn't snowed so I can get the truck around to the back of the house. This year I have 5 and 1/4 and will be getting one last ton on Tuesday.

I wish I could store more then I can. But I have limited space to store pellets. At the most I can only store 30 bags. I went to my HOA and asked if I could store then outside under my car port covered with a canvas. Thier anser was flat blank. No. So I'll just have to keep the stock level up and pray this winter was not like last year.

Would have been better to ask forgiveness than permission maybes?

Just about 14 tons on hand now will be at 18 by the end of next week . I now have 4 stoves at 3 different locations all cb1200s . Looking forward to heating my office this year with pellets ! Will pick up some more along the way . Figure if this year is like last year I'll burn about 12-13 tons so I have a good start on next year

Hi farmer, I hit that thread already. It would be pretty far for him to come all this way for pellets, but if he can find rib mts they are a decent pellet. Our feed mill started carrying pellets this year too but not sure what he has.

We got another ton this morning. They went up $5

Hope to get another ton this month

Well, I mentioned to my wife on Thursday, that I was thinking about getting one more ton to make sure that we would have enough pellets on hand. She asked how many we had already and I told her that we had 1500 pounds more than what we had used all of last year. She responded with that was enough. Then on Friday, she changed her mind. Saying that she didn't want me to tell her "I told you so" if we happened to run out of pellets. And she knows that they will get used at some point in time. So, Saturday I picked up one more ton. Cost $218 for Uncle Jed's. That puts us at over 12 ton total.

Started the Castile on Saturday to take the chill out of the house. With all of the cloudy, cool weather, it was down to 65*. So the stash is starting to dwindle already.

If you read my profile information, I have a Castile insert and a Harman boiler. Boiler heats the whole house, garage, and DHW (domestic hot water). Castile is in our living room and uses about 1 1/2 ton per year. The rest is the boiler. It is not uncommon for the pellet boiler people to use well over 6 ton per year.

Ah-yuh...agreed.

Up to 4.5 tons this year (used 3.5 tons last year). Bought before Sept 1, can I join? :)

Yes, but you have to sit over there at the piglet table.

IMG_20140906_114955:nopm:.jpg Last year I bought 2.5 to get from the time of my stove install in February to May, so I added 3 ton to that math. Going into this year with 5.5 tons of hardwood. And yes that's my kids Green Machine parked in front of the tractor.

He met the preliminary requirements to be a full fledged Pig and can sit at the table with the big pigs. All he has to do now is correctly answer the following question and submit his dues to the club treasurer for proper laundering into brews.

The question is:

While out hunting for pellets for your stash you notice a little old lady loading her car with pellets, what do you do?

I always help ! Wife thinks I'm crazy I've spent several hours loading pellets for others . But she says that's one of the many reasons she married me .

Offer to take them off her hands after her heart attack from loading them.

Not sure I'd call it Ultra-pig, but I've increased my stash by an extra ton so far, to just over 5 total. Normally only use around 3 but last winter I nearly depleted my 4 ton supply. Can't have that again :)

Moved to 5 tons this year. Didn't want to play the game of checking lowes/HD's websites and then rushing to the store at lunch for 12 bags in the home stretch of the season.

Sounds like a lot of people changed their buying habits for this upcoming season. More is always better :) Heck, I just officially started the 2014/15 season this morning after waking up to a 60 degree house! Between the 42 degrees outside and 60 inside, I had to take the chill off the house with a 2-hour burn :)
