I stopped at Lowes in Highland tonight and they were carrying Nature's Own, which are rebagged Energex (like Stove Chows). I burned about 5 bags last year, and my Harman liked them. There are still roughly 2 pallets left there, but these worked very good for me, and in the absence of Stove Chow locally, I'd recommend these as a viable pellet for the fall months.

I'm actually going to start calling around this week. I have a Harman p43 and managed to find hamers last winter at lowes in Hudson for like 230 a ton so I have half a ton left from last year. But I did business with justin slater over in Cairo last winter and he hooked me up. Curran hardwoods worked amazing and he gets curran hardwood, softwood, blend and hamers. I know hamers are like 300 a ton along with curran hardwood but softwoods are 250 a ton and burned great last year. I'll post when I find out what pellets the box stores in Hudson and Catskills hVe.

Home Depot in Milford Pa., and Middletown NY. have Maine Woods @$239.00 pr ton

Which ones: Timber Heat, Natures Own or Cheat River??

Newburgh Lowe's received a truckload of Presto's this afternoon and I got 3 ton . It pays to have friends who work there and keep there eyes peeled!!!!

Hello everyone! Is it just me or do the big box stores in your area seem to only carry 1 or 2 brands of pellets? HD only has Green Supreme and Lowe's has North American, Green Team and Timber Heat. I have an Englander 25 PDV and it seems to like hardwood the best. Last season I had very good luck with Presto's and Hamers, but neither is selling them at this time. Suggestions are most welcomed at this time, thank you :)
Hamers are available in Newburgh south of broadway on Route 8W

Yup and they are $300 a ton too!! Not happening, but thanks for the info... I picked up 3 ton of Presto's last night from Lowe's :)

Presto's were $206 ton and that was with 10% discount :)

Yes :)

Home Depot here outside Phila just got In load of Stove Chows...
Always a Big seller here...... went up 10.00 from 229.00 this past winter.
Bagged by Energex but the're are differences from Energex Hardwoods American.
sweeter smell when opend or burned... Inconcistant Pellet size But, Burn very hot....well worth the price.
I think Lowes here goes with the Green Supremes.....

I didn't see Prestos but there were 2 tons of " nature's own" which are re bagged Energex. I bought 15 of those. I now have 2 tons of Hamer's Hot Ones and a mixed ton of Nature's own, Green Team and Hamer's Hot Ones. I should be all set.

My apologies! A friend of mine had sent me a text message mid afternoon advising that all of the Presto's had been sold. He to ended up with Nature's Own too. I picked up two bags of Cheat River and two bags of the Nature's to try out prior to getting my Presto's. It's always good to try a bag or two of something different :)

Nice!!! It appears you're gonna be good to go!!! I have a 1/2 left from last season and 3 being delivered Sat morning :)

I have burned about 6 tons of Green Supreme (GS) over three years. Low price and my Harman requires a cleaning every 2 week.

Last year I ran out and had to burn about half of ton of North American at the end of the season OMG North American ash flying everywhere. Cleaning every 10 days tops and it wasn't even that cold. Never again will I buy North American. I will burn oil before I try to burn North American.

Cleanfire Pacific I burned last year is a lot more expensive but significantly less ash than GS and North American and I can almost go 4 weeks without a cleaning burning Cleanfire Pacific What a difference an expensive pellet makes.

I went expensive this year with 1.5 tons of Cleanfire Pacific and 1.5 tons of LGs. This averaged $298 a ton delivered.

I don't have a truck so to go fetch a ton from HD or Lowes is 3 trips 30 miles round trip plus my time. For three tons that is 9 trips or total of 270 miles. To be honest some of these trips were combined with other shopping trips. Its real nice having those 3 tons delivered and only have to move 3 tons once rather than three times.

Kingston Wal-Mart has Pennington Nature's Heat for $3.98/bag. I have 3 tons, but it's tempting no matter how bad they burn.

next year all member in the Hudson valley should do a large group buy at Lowes and get a few truck loads of sets :) Go big go home.
