The serious answer . When in my teens and contemplating leaving home my step mother sat me down with some very good advice , and it goes like this . When you think you have meet the girl of your dreams get to know your future mother in law and if you do not like what you see RUN for this is what your wife will be in 25 years .

I think the hearing aid answer makes me feel better....I do have tinnitus so it may fly..

I must be an ass cause l'd have shut the heat off when they where on vacation so all the pipes would freeze and burst. Hopefully they had forced hot water so no ability to heat either.

Oh hell you could turn that event into a party! All gather around the coal / wood / pellet stove... have a couple of drinks... and watch you hit the button on the remote! (you could charge extra if you could rig up a web cam and watch the pipes actually bursting over breakfast the next morning)

I have a Vesta, I could do a lot of satisfying things if I ever ended up in that situation. lol. Allen that story doesn't always hold true , my mother in law was quite stout,smoked like a chimney and was one of the grumpiest women I ever knew but was a great cook. I have been married for 23 years now . My wife is still 115lbs , don't smoke, only grumpy once a month and she can barely cook Kraft dinner. . Go figure eh! But she still has 2 years to go , she'll have to do a lot of eatin though.
