Feeling the Heat

60 days after ordering my skids, no Hamers. I hope that maybe by tomorrow I might be able to have a conversation with the dealer's manager, but I'm wondering if I should be prepared for that conversation. Is there anything I should know about availability? Factory shut-down, whatever?

If I must, I'll switch brands.

Sheesh, I started down the road of "next time I'll be ready"... that didn't work out. Hmm, looking ahead, not this weekend but the next one, it might actually be cool enough to either use the pellet stove or my boiler... barely.

I got my 5 Ton of Hamer's in July from my local supplier. He has his own trucks and was picking up full trailer loads without issue. Maybe something changed from then until now.

I only pay $250 per ton here just North of Philly

Call the mill, and give them your zip code, and they can supply you the closes dealer, or new dealer, to your location. ( nice car ).........

I know a lot of the BIG suppliers here in the western half of CT are out of stock with a lot of brands. They still have other brands available, but, IMHO in only mid-September, they shouldn't be out of stock with anything! I turned my stove on Monday morning for 2 hours to take the chill off the house and probably will again tomorrow morning (forecasting to be in the upper 30s for the a.m.) But if you can't get an acceptable answer, move on to another good pellet from another dealer sooner rather than later taking into account what last year was like!

"Well said, Boomer" After Last Year Who Knows What's Up with Pellets.
GOOD LUCK

Thanks Ed - it's good to be ready! (being cold just so sucks... as does a 60 degree house all winter which I remember back in junior high / high school during the Carter-put-on-a-sweater years!) I wasn't warm again until May or June each year!!!

Hamers are available here in the Hudson Valley area, but at $300 a ton.... That's not happening!!! I picked up 3 tons of Presto's, which I liked last season for under $700 with delivery :) Good Luck...

I got 4 ton from the dealer close to me, he brought me 4 ton at 229.00 plus 60.00 for delivery. I think that is the same I paid last year.

I had 6 tons dropped in the driveway @ 265 a ton from valley mason supply in vernon nj, last week, He said there would be a price increase end of september

I didn't like Hamers last year. 2012-13 they were very good, but I wouldn't run that risk again.

Who has Presto"s?

Lowe's in Newburgh had them, but now sold out! Lowe's in Kingston had them on Monday. They treated me quite well last season and I was glad to get them again :) I had a ton of Hamers also and they were good, especially at $189 a ton last year at Lowe's in Highland. I see others have gotten Hamers quite reasonably priced this year, but our local guy wants $300 a ton... Not happening!!!!

Bob, do you know if they have a minimum ton delivery or a max distance? I'm going to call them tomorrow, but the Mrs. is excited and wants answers...

You got Hamers for $229 this year? That's darn good...

That might be Plan C; not only do I need pellets but I want them delivered (in another topic I mentioned no truck and the new trailer only holds 1500LB) and the place I bought from was recommended to me right here on the forum, and about the only place remotely close (< 1 mile from their radius limit too) for delivery. I'd like to work with them -- but I need pellets or at least decent answers.

Thanks for the comment on the car, we're car-crazy; also have a Honda S2000 and the wife just bought me a 2015 Boxster... hence no truck and relying on a trailer to haul.

Stay warm, everyone!

$224/ton near Pittsburgh, PA (Connellsville)

Agway in connelsville? I got mine from grennsburg agway but they delivered them from ligonier agway. The same folks own or partially own all 3 I believe.

OK, heard from the seller, they are having trouble with transportation in TO them (this seems to be happening everywhere; after a 4-1/2 month wait, my new car arrived at port of entry, then sat for a couple of weeks due to a shortage of trucks/drivers). Hopefully will have delivery or at least better info by week's end. If weather cools I might need a few backs of "whatever" from Home Depot.

Tiger:
You are only 30 miles from 50 Orchard Rd. Glen Burnie Phone 410 636 9663.
They have Greenway Pellets, and you can not go wrong with them.
Luck

Hey Ed nice sail boat. What is that a 40 footer on the Chesapeake bay? Almost looked like you had the main reefed but I think its just the angle of the shot. You got a pellet stove on that boat ?
