I bought my P61a back in 2008 and other than replacing the distribution blower last year I haven't had any real issues with it. While taking a close look at it tonight I noticed that there is a hole in the pellet feed tube right inside the tube where it comes out to the firebox. Mine is the older version that has the air holes close to the feed tube so I've been watching for this for a while.
So I called up my dealer wanting to know what my choices were and what they were going to cost me. After 6 years I expected I'd have to pay for this. To my surprise he told me it was covered I would just have to bring it in. Turn around time on the repair will be about 2 weeks. So I've got to get this into the truck and bring it back but I'm some glad I noticed this now rather then in a few weeks when I'd really need it.

THAT is customer service! Glad I went with a harman.

Wow, good customer service. Do you know when the changeover to the new style took place?

Yes, always get great service there. This is my second pellet stove from them.
I have two as well. Nothing but good things to say about them.

That's great service. Glad it's getting taken care of.

Can you tell me some more about this problem? Mine is nine years old and I wonder if I should be checking for it.

Thanks!

From what I understand if your firebox has 5 air hole right next to the feeder tube it tends to let the fire live in the front of the feeder tube. which can cause a hole to form in the bottom of the feeder tube and wear out the end of the auger as well. My auger was worn, thin and razor sharp on the end. Here is a picture of mine.

Thanks for sharing. I wonder which years had the holes close to the auger? I don't think mine (2005) had them. I bet it helped yours to light a lot faster.
