I just did it. The baffles slip out without removing a tube and the brush slips by the tubes up the flue. I guess I should've read the manual closer the first couple times I cleaned it. Duh. The tubes require banging on an attached vise grip, so I was glad not to have to do that again.
 
Yeah i always thought it was funny that that was the official way to take the tubes out but i do think it is easier than allot of other stove out there.
 
I thought the same thing, but I read my manual, and moving it like it said worked. Maybe if you still had the manual floating around it would say something about it. I imagine if it wouldn't you'd be out of luck.
