well after 2 full years of use on the system I figure I need to clean the chimney pipe before this season (6" duravent duratech). I went up there today , removed the cap and it didn't look too bad to me (mostly flakey stuff). cleaned the cap ran the brush up and down for a while and it took it right off with a pass or 2. all I had from the pipe down in the stove was about 1-2 cup fill's if that .

yes sir , I take that back , I think that's 3 years worth of burning. about 30 cords burnt in it.
 
30 face or full cords?
 
Yeah I know I know not the best practice , yearly now . First years wood was iffy , last 2 years wood was dry and burned hot

Ah, that sounds better. 10 cords a year would be a huge amount of wood to burn in a single stove. 10 cords in 3 years is pretty average. It's a long time to go before cleaning, but from the looks of things you and the stove are burning right.
