Sorry to break up the u-boat love in, but has anyone been watching the price of oil? Looking at sub $3 shortly and possibly already found in some areas.

Yeah and the back month oil futures contracts and the fact that the refiners are just now shifting to "D" mode, distillate, kinda says that the stuff is gonna be cheap until at least December.

And sure the price isn't bad now but wait till they switch over to winter grade and watch the price go back to $4 a gallon

Well, the electric hot water heater sucks up a bit of power, plus the stove/oven, etc. Of course having one of the highest electric utilities doesn't help! (plus they just asked for a rate increase as well (plus almost a doubling of the 'delivery' portion as well)!!!
Sounds like it's time to replace that electric water heater with a heat pump water heater and reap the instant savings! Our rate is 16cents a kw/h after all the fees and crap. After putting in the HPWH the electric bill dropped consistently $30-40 a month this summer. Sounds like you would enjoy higher savings.

Forget those oil companies as much as they charged me to heat my home last winter it will be a long time before I think of going back to oil I'm in revenge mode they could go out of business and I'd feel no remorse.

Their not going anywhere. If the price of oil plummets, I guarantee you'll be looking real hard at it. You'll scratch your head, look at your 12k pounds of pellets laying there waiting to be schlepped up to your stove, take your pain pills for your back, scrape down your burn pot and clean your stove, brush your chimney, and call the oil guys to fill your tank up (and quickly before the price goes up).

Tank is full last one I'm buying putting in a heat pump next year as back up for pellet stove.also going to look at alternate fueled cars next year too

Hang onto that full tank for when the Harman craps out on a cold night. ;lol

That's why it's there until the heat pump goes in. I'm not too worried about it crapping out by the way cause it is a harman.ill be sweating it only cause I turned the temp up too high on the stove

Two englanders and one spare looks like a reliable piece of machinery and I only have one harman

U-boat love? 100 men submerged and 50 couples surfaced!!! I figured I'd say it before any of you grunts or skimmers said it! :)

Didn't scream at 1.65. Screamed more when I paid 22 times the amount for my home than my parents did.

Or when I paid more for my latest car than I paid for my first house!

I just got an estimate of $30,000 for 23 new Andersen windows - that's 2x what my parents paid for their first house in 1962.

I think another estimate is in order. The payback in saved energy costs must be about 100 years at that price. My wife wants new windows and now I'm nervous. _g

Instead of going with NEW Andersen (new construction) windows.... I'm going with the Pella 350 'replacement' windows for ONLY $14,900

Had things sized up by a tech this summer but not sure what system I'm getting yet still reasearching what I want but was told by a tech that the new heat pumps made today were good to go at -5 so that kinda got me interested
