what type of tree?

I need some help identifying this wood. I cut the tree in winter, so I don't know the leaf type. Thanks .

Looks a lot like shagbark hickory to me.
 
At least need a pic of the end grain.

Bark is a hickory. I'm a "lumper" when it comes to hickories, so there are only 3 hickories in my world - shagbark, pignut & bitternut. I'd say that's pignut.

OK - based on this I'm changing my reply to "some kind of hickory". :cool:
 
not Shagbark like I have here, but sure looks like a type of Hickory - just like the stuff I pulled out a couple years back - can't reference Pecan as none around here.

To small of a split to say. No dark heart for hickory, I would say white oak.
 
Hickory should have a dark heartwood. I don't think this is Hickory, but I also don't think it is oak. I am not sure what it is.
 
The wood looks like hickory, and the bark as well, but it is hard to tell as I am not so familiar with the tree mix in your area. It is definitely not oak.
 
How heavy (dense) is it?
 
Not oak. I'd guess hickory from the first pic. I'm not a hickory expert.
