I gave this gun... Works great. Can't speak to its accuracy, but its close to my magnetic one or vice versa.

I have a similar temperature gun. Never thought of using it on the stove. Do you shoot at the glass or the box? In my case, it's a steel box shrouded in cast iron so it wouldn't be useful unless the door glass told me something of interest.

I shoot everything:) chimney, glass, walls near stove, ceiling, but mostly chimney and stove top (steel).

Ok, you inspired me to dig out my temperature gun. When I fire it at the stove glass, I get readings around 350. When I hit the stove pipe, it drops to around 220. Can't measure the stove top because the steel box is shrouded in cast iron. The cat gauge is showing we're good and hot. I'm confused because I figured the glass would be around 600.

I see multiple models on that page, did everyone get the 774?

Just bought the 774. $5 off has expired but still good price at $17 with shipping
