Could some one help me with my fisher question? My uncle told me hed give me a fisher momma bear stove he has in his basement. The stove is not hooked up just sitting there. Funds are tight this year and I was originally going to buy a new insert or freestanding stove for our house. Im thinking clean and restore this stove and use it for a few years then use it in my basement or barn. Here is my question I have a open hearth that I was going to place the stove in but, how can I safley connect the stove to a SS Flex linner? I flex linned my old chimney and hooked it to my merrimack but, that stove is completely diffrent. any input would be great.

I gave you your own thread;
Is this Mama Bear a top vent stove? A rear vent would need to have an elbow on the back to connect to liner. Top is best, but either will work. (providing the liner is 6 inch)

That's all you need.

Well I spoke with my uncle last night hes a few states away so i got some more detials. I dont think the stove is a momma bear.
Below are the specs he gave me.

8''ID Top flue exit.
29'' Depth
30 1/2'' H to top of flue pipe conection
25 1/2'' W
2 doors on the front that are rounded at the top. say it has spring handles and pine trees on front door.

He says there are 13 or so firebricks in side stove.

Im thinking its a grandma bear>? what do you think?

Thanks,

Thank you for the response.

the OD diameter of my terra cotta linned chimney is 13x12 should be plenty to drop a eight'' liner down. I will have to chip out the damper plate But I have a chipping hammer I can use.

The house is 2250 and there is a great room with another open fire place but im not trying to heat that area. Although I'm sure this stove will do it no problem.

I ordered fire brick 26 total because I thought I had a momma bear on my hands. Ill look back at one of your other post to figure out what size brick and how many I will need.

23 bricks. Page 13 in the manual shows placement.

I see that now that now. Ill keep you up to date on how things go with the install. Im going to have to drive several hours to go pick up the stove. But, Hes giving it to me so i really cant complain. Thank you for all of your help....
