When do YOU decide its time to fire up the stove?

When I'm cold.

I have a job where I'm constantly outside, I'm a builder so if it's in the 20's daily then coming home to a house that's 58 feels tropical

Pellet heat?! Wheres the fun in that?.......55 deg F and i fire up the wood stove.

Actually, this past week the downstairs thermometer has been low 60's in the Morning but we face East
so after opening the blinds and front door[ full size glass screen door] The sun warms things up a bit.
so far stove still asleep from last April.

I'm married -- what makes you think I get a vote?

Thermostat is just programmed so it comes on when it needs to. I don't go by any certain date or temperature, just like the house to be comfortable. Sometimes I'll manually override it if I don't think it's warm enough. No matter how many times I tweak the program I can never get it perfect...

When it's chilly. Usually about 66 degrees inside is the tipping point.

I'm into my 3rd bag since I first turned in on 2 weeks ago.

I came home the house was 66, often I wait till its 65 but it's Friday night I want to be comfortable so I turned it on. It will probably cycle a time or two and be off till overnight sometime. Tomorrow looks dank, damp cool with a morning forecast of 48 deg and a daytime high of 55 with a cold rain. Yuck, that screams heat to me so I'll just leave the stove turned on in Room Temp mode 72 deg. and it will turn itself on and off. It's Oct you gonna need some heat now and then !

nov 1 or "wife", which ever comes first. lol

Yeah, we all need to make sure there are no combustibles too close to the stove.......... 'specially when it's picture takin' time .......

Here in ct the temp at night is a low if 45 so we been firing it up in the am for a few hours.usally the house is at 63.my oil does not get turned on and set to 60 till mid to late nov.

Me and the ole lady have a little competition to see who can hold out the longest.Our first full season we were both layered in clothing and covered in blankets before she gave in. This year I cheated a little bit to speed things up. Been working on freshening up the living room so last night I primed a section of the ceiling (kilz oil) so I could put a fan in the window to exhaust the fumes. In addition to the nice breeze moving through the house, the temp was below 60 when she got home. So ya I won.

lol The kicker is, she's not my wife... she's my g/f who spends long weekends(thur-mon) with me. SHE DOESN'T EVEN LIVE HERE and she's in charge. lol

24/7 ? I will leave the stove turned on after the 15th of Oct, it will run when the sensor calls for heat. I may turn the temp up or down a bit but I may not too.

When it goes below 32 degrees outside. Otherwise it the heat pump.

Actually, right now...

Looked at overnight temps (40s) and temp when I walked in (66), wife and girls out and son and I home. It fulfills some man training time environs. Have a great holiday weekend guys.

You too ! Tomorrow is a wash out here, sounds like a raw day. Good day for burning some pellets and getting into my music ( play piano, create my own compositions).
