I saw this stove on CL and would like to know when they were maid and if members think it is worth $500?

I have one of those. Built in 1984. I wouldn't pay 500 for it. An EPA certified Englander wouldn't be much more and would burn better. What's up with the door handle btw?
It's a nice heater for its time, and represents an early attempt at non-catalytic clean burning from a time when the EPA was making murmurs about regulations but hadn't put them in practice yet (I think). Mine came with my house FYI.

The arch in that photo is almost the worst brick work I've ever seen.
 
The owner mentioned that the handle is broken and that he used his poker somehow to open and close the latch.

I would like to stay away from refractory. From what I am using now any stove would be an improvement.
