Did my first sweep ever yesterday. Borrowed equipment from a coworker, will probably purchase my own equipment for next time since its cheap enough, cleaned it from the top down, chimney cap was pretty clean, didn't need much cleaning at all, I guess that's a good sign?
Tried to take a before picture with my cell phone of the inside, does this look bad?
The after picture, should have waited till the dust settled, didn't feel like spending all afternoon on the roof tho.
After the quick part on the roof, I decided to take the lid off the F500 and clean above the baffle and the horizontal part that goes to the T. Spent more time trying to figure out what size bolts were keeping the oval top plate on and how to finagle my hand in there then I did cleaning it.
I think I got it clean? I'm no expert, definitely was easy enough to do myself vs. spending 130$+ every year.
Helps having a fairly flat dormered cape.
I cleaned out about a gallon - a gallon and a half sized amount of black powdery creosote.
had my first fire last night. felt good
