Broke in my new saw and some old mauls this weekend while splitting some firewood. I am currently building a new home that will have a woodstove. The house is being built on a 11.56 acre, wooded lot that is mostly a mix of white oak, shagbark hickory, and some form of maple. I've put in a little time on what i believe was a ash tree. the pile you see is just the bottom 20 feet of the tree, i still have to process the rest.
Also, im quite new to tree identification, so please correct me if I am wrong!
This was halfway through splitting and stacking. also pictured is my Husqavarna 455 rancher with a 18in bar. awesome saw.
Final stack, its a loose, criss-cross stack, two pallets wide, one deep. I think its 4 x 7 or so, and about 3 ft tall. definitely not close to a full cord with how loose i stacked it. hoping the airflow will help the drying process. I probably wont burn this until fall, winter 2015.
