I wouldn't cook over them, as some of them can be soaked with some really rank oozage or crud.
i just boil water then drop in the lobsters and cover... no hamburgers or hot dogs....i use gas grill for that..

I've made a playhouse, a 4 tap kegerator, a bed for my son, brew stand, pellet hopper, and numerous other things. Of course, I used more than the 5 pallets that my pellets arrived on haha.
I think you just won! Genious.

I put them on the curb with a sign that says free and they just disappear.

Cleaned out my garage a couple years ago and came across decent snow tires to a car I traded months before. Put them out front "free" and they were there all week. Following weekend made a sign $10 each - they were gone the next morning. True story.

Tsc here takes them back. Guy said they get money for them from there supplier but they don't give money back to the customer.

This will be our first year with Accentra 52i. I've already neatly stacked my two tons of Hamers and Barefoots in the house, but I'm wondering what folks do with their leftover pallets. I'm sure folks repurpose them, or even make cool furniture out of them. I'm asking because my local township garbage guy won't take them! Thoughts?
I take them back to the dealer he says it will help keep his cost down from ordering new pallets so my cost stays down when ordering pellets

put them out at the top of the driveway with "FREE" sign ... gone in lessthan 24 hrs

We have to trade them back or at $2

I use them to stack my woodpiles on for the woodstoves. Also made some make shift heavy duty but none permanent shelves in the garage with left over pallets and left over cinder blocks for the corners.

i call the town bulk pickup and they come get them OR i put them at the curb and some redneck in my town takes them LOL

I often drop the pallets back off at TSC, otherwise they sit in the back of my truck indefinitely. Last year I gave my pallets to a neighbor who used them in a campfire. I agree with not cooking anything over them. You don't know if they've been sprayed or treated with insecticides or some other chemical. Just don't drag them across your driveway or an un-lined truck bed as there are always metal nails/screws sticking out.

This thread has inspired me to build a pallet bar in my newly finished basement. First I need to burn 5 tons...

I throw them out in the middle of the highway ..............................

Local Tavern here in town just paneled the back bar with pallet slats. Looks pretty good.

I just built a chicken coop out of pallets. I need to build a wood shed next. Then I'm sure that I'll find another project.

awesome project ideas! Love the playhouse...and the kegerator...love 'em all! We plan to save the pallet wood and make a pallet ceiling for the kitchen. Will take some time and more than the 6 pallets we ordered, so we are going to collect some over the winter and sand/prep/stain the wood so it will be ready for a spring project :)

Thanks! The kegerator has definitely been my favorite project so far. If you're going to get serious about pallets, I found nothing works better than a pallet breaker tool. You can buy one or build one but I'm telling you it's the easiest way to break down a pallet. Plus, the breaker doesn't destroy the wood like a sawsall or crowbar does. I ended up buying this breaker tool. By far, it's the best tool I've invested in for pallet building projects.

No problem. It's also great for limiting strain on the ol' lower back.
