After long and intensive thought process and researching and looking at numerous stoves and options I ended up buying a Harman P68 yesterday. It was $4,681.83 for the P68 and everything I needed. Price includes exhaust or all pipe, direct vent wall thimble, outside a kit, high temp silicone, and 5 bags of Pro Pellet $4.80 per bag). The stove alone $3,950 after the $100 Harman online coupon good until Dec. 14th or so.

Basically, everything I need for my installation I am doing myself. The hardest part of this whole deal was the $4,700 hit and getting it out of the back of my truck.

I will update my progress. I will do the installation this evening or tomorrow. Will also be picking up at least 3 tons of pellets locally. The Harman dealer I went to is in Indiana about 50 minutes (42 miles) away. He has the P68 in his own home and one currently heating his store. Very professional and knew his stuff. He is also a HVAC guy. Stocks tons of parts, etc;

Congrats!! Soon you'll be convincing friends and family to convert, while at the same time
hoping they won't so that there won't be a pellet shortage in your area LOL

Thanks, Tim! Honestly, I do not remember hearing about a pellet shortage that happened here. Not saying there wasn't and I was not so in tune with pellets last winter either. I do know propane was hard to get and/or the price went up by 4 x's. Rock salt and snow melting ran out.

Thanks everyone. It was a gut wrenching decision backed with some insight of others here. I would have liked to have spent less but I feel I will not regret it. I have many projects at home to do and finish with more cash flying out as I type this. I felt it was a good and solid decision. Wife is happy I am no longer obsessing about it. I now have the P68 in where it will live. Tomorrow is hook up date although it is going to be 70 *F. Next week it will be coming on with expected temps with highs in the50's and lows in the 36-44 range. That is when the dreaded less than 60 reads on the stat and hawk eye gets cranky in the cool house. It may maintain though...... we shall see.

I may just make her happy for sport. Kind of a double edged sword. The tougher I make her......the meaner she gets. LOL! Seems counter productive at times. Really the wife is very easy going but I do like yanking her chain. Just don't pull as hard any longer. Oh yea, she likes it already and it's only sitting there. Good deal! I will get some pics and stuff going on. I haven't had the time or even looked t how to do it. THANKS AGAIN!

Even though you spent more than you initially wanted to, it is still a great investment and it will pay you back and then some over time. I was put off at first at the cost of my soon to be installed stove but then realized it will only take a year or so longer to pay me back in reduced heating oil usage.

Will do! Been here laying everything out and reading up. Ready to start cutting holes tomorrow. BUT>>>> I already have a spoke in the wheels. The thru the wall (Harman kit) that was high dollar but it vents and is also an OAK (outside air kit) is messed up. It is on the outside part and is way out of square. Will run it back in the AM and exchange it. No fixing it. Factory defect. Not even close to fitting together. Inside is square outside part is some sort of cocked and jacked up trapezoid thing a ma jig.

The inside is 6-3/4" square with equal sides. The "special thing a ma jig" part measures on one side 6-13/16" which it likely should because inside slides into the outside and this is 1/16" larger. Here's where it gets interesting. The next side is 6-1/4" followed by the next side at 7-1/2" and the last side is 6-5/8". WOW! When I pulled it out of the box I already knew it was a mess. So I ran my tape measure around it. For what I paid it is going right on back. What sucks is the place is 45 miles or so away. With that fact I will be running at least 2 1/2 hours behind for my install. Oh well, it happens. Maybe I can pimp so FREE pellets out of them for wasting my time and fuel.

They are an excellent business with rave reviews and very nice people so I know they will make it right.
 
congrads on the new stove, did you get any of the trim piece's to dress it up? if not you could send the wife to the store to pick out what she likes and while she's gone hide the bat
 
Hi Bags, Sorry to hear you hit a snag. You will get it worked out!

Looks like all the Harman guys won you over.:) The P68 is a beast stove, you wont regret it.

Yea, just a minor hiccup! I am already feeling better about the Harman purchase. It was meant to be. The shop where I bought it also sells Quadra Fire and Enviro. They only have a couple of Enviros left on clearance and are no longer going to sell them. He said he was not real happy about Enviro's lack of support and parts availability. Said they were pretty good stoves but the support just wasn't there. He took me into the shop and showed me his extensive supply of Harman parts in stock. Guy really knew his stuff too and very nice to boot. He gave me his undivided attention for about two hours and answered anything and everything I threw at him. Walked me thru everything and also offered many suggestions that he lost money on. He wants happy customers. So far here he has one even since I had the thimble problem right out of the box.

Yea you fellow Harman Bro's got under my skin. Looking back it's a no-brainer. Just a little rough on the wallet at first. Especially when you see stuff for half the price. The Drolet Eco 65 for $2,500 etc; I just saw here a guy just got a new one and is having troubles. Wish him the best of luck because I could also be in his shoes right now. It's a little dis-heartening. I could swing the cash on the Harman so I jumped. I was trying to stretch my bank account since I have numerous other projects in the works right now. They'll get done too.

the best thing about spending this money on a ironclad harman is your gonna get it back!not too many purchases I've made in my life that I will get my money back.so look at it as you loaned yourself $4700 with interest

Yea, just notice a PC45 popped up in Cincinnati on Craigslist today for $2,600. Probably not much less than he originally paid. Another guy has 4 PC45's for sale in Brookville, IN (also Cincinnati Craigslist) that are new left overs asking $2,600 per unit. He was a dealer that heats his home With a Harman and various rental properties. Think he is using the P61's. Also has a PF100 new leftover for $3,600. I have his info if anyone is looking. He might ship?? Thought about buying something from him but glad I went the P68 route and the dealer I used.

IMO you made the right choice .my first stove I bought used for 1500 and did barter for the labor .it was a nightmare from day one .4 service calls later and they were not cheap.i researched and found the p34i was my best fit.the dealer was cool and gave me $200 for my old stove.when the guy came looked at it ripped everything apart and said this will be used for scarp metal.So me being cheap I learned the hard way.most times you get what you pay for.Happy burning:)

Thanks! As it is I have enough other stuff to worry about. I prefer not to ADD to my list of frustrations currently. The plug and play is music to my ears about now. Plus I will have no trouble doing my own install so I saved some cash there. I can't wait to fire it up. The wife is extremely excited. More so now that I rolled it over to where it is really going to live. Pushing it around on a furniture dolly = a little effort. Sticking it in the wrong horribly bad location acting like I am measuring stuff and telling her this is where it HAS to go to see the puzzled distraught look on her face = Priceless! Had to have some fun and get my last bit of yanking her chain. I let it sit there for about an hour before I moved it too. She just went to bed and said, "It's so much better there." I just laughed.

We didn't like the higher price of the P61/install but the stove HAS paid for itself!!

I had to pull a permit form stove's install. Professional installation was required.
 
P61A here, love it, super easy to maintain, everything is easily accessible. I want to see Pics!;ex
