Ordered 3 ton of lignetics last week, at a good price from what everyone here has said...well today when they showed up, they were actually Somerset Premium Hardwood. Sweeeet! Anyone know if somerset makes lignetics or whats up with that? may have just been a confusion and i lucked out?

Been burning somerset pellets exclusively for several years. Made in Kentucky by an oak floor manufacturer. They burn hot, very low ash and pellet's are uniform in size every year. I haven't made any adjustments to my stove since burning them, one great pellet.

Ten years ago we were given 1 ton lignetics (green bag) with purchase of our quad castile, I believe they were manufactured in Idaho, they burned good however the following year we were sent lignetics (blue bag) made in West Virginia, they were terrible..

You got lucky, if I ordered somersets and they delivered lignetics my stove would cry...

Look on the bag LOL before you make jokes !! I am almost the king of SETS LMAO

I also will burn a ton from 2012 this year that was move in from the shed. Yes have born on date

That's a great score! I'd LOOVE if I ordered ligs and got 'sets instead! They kept us warm last year, even with a leaky old farmhouse and a freezing cold winter!
Nice score :)

Glad to hear! yah igotta dumpy old school hosue from the 1840's so hopefully i can keep it warm in here. Im still learning how to run this ole hog...i need to experiment with turn up the hopper feed and leaving blower alone and vise versa. ive got it figured out for burning all night at about 70-73 and running about 15hrs. now i need to learn how to make some serious heat.

I got Sets due to the consistently positive reviews, and the fact that it seems pellets might be in a bit of a shortage (else I would have tried a variety) but I got 3 tons to get started. Anyhow, this is the first time I've burned pellets and getting ready for first fire, I opened one bag and the pellets seem to be all broken into various size pieces. I figured this was normal but not sure, especially since you said they were uniform in size (mine are pretty equally distributed across 1/4" to 1 1/4" with probably more on the shorter side. I didnt see any 'fines' in the bag, so thats good.

Yes that is good. good score on the three tons of sets. what price did you pay for a ton? Last year with the 10% discount we got them at $187 at ton $3.74 bag. Pellets at big box stores are now 5.58 a bag right now!

Wow there is only one pellet brand I've seen that cheap locally and its Easy Heat which seems to get terrible reviews. The Sets were $250, no discount other than the per ton discount ($6/bag otherwise I think it was), plus I had to pay tax too. Most all the pellets I can get are around the $250 mark besides Easy Heat, though I'm still looking, but if there all about the same I'll go for the Sets!

mustangwagz did you find the date on the bottom of the bag?? sets are burning good tonight

YUP!! looked eaerlier and wanted to verify that your not crazy..lol Mine were bagged on 7-28-14. Gonna top off the hopper with sets before bed. Was polishing off a bag of Ligs today. Filled it up this morning at 8am and still got about 2 hours or so left in the hopper at the moment. Amazing how much crap the ligs put off compared to the sets. I vaccumed the stove before i burned my bag of sets and its was pretty clean. Then i burned this bag of ligs and wow. lol major difference. Ligs keep me warm no doubt, but sets deff are cleaner, even outta the bag there's no fines in em so far.

I use a pallet jack ! it is a great help to move pellets around.

i deff need a jack, but untill then im just throwing them aroudn by hand. all 3 tons are home now, and gotta get 3rd one re-stacked where i want it.

Guess now its just time to experiment, clean, and keep attempting to reach other members on here who own the same stove i do.
