Eastern Maine
The availability of quality pellets in eastern Maine has been sporadic and I've been burned a couple of times. After reading great reviews on some high quality brands I've bought several ton only to find out that "Oh yeah they suck now."I have a great stove (Avalon Astoria) and I know"try a few bags first" but its been almost 70 degrees here for a week and buy the time I get through a few bags they'll be gone.I can get them for $215 a ton witch seem like a pretty good deal so can anybody tell me ARE BLAZERS STILL AWESOME? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Where the heck are you able to buy Blazers for $215/ton? HD and Lowes are selling junk pellets for $250/ton now! The pellet house wants $350/ton of the Blazers. And another place down the street from me wants $370/ton for their Okie DFs. Crazy. I need to move to Maine!

I'd be curious to know which dealer in eastern Maine has those. I live 200 miles from the plant and they are 249 a ton here. Blazers, asking price at the mill is 160 per ton, same as Clean Burn and Olympus. It seems impossible to be able to get them there anywhere near that price. Load up!!!!!

Home Depot in Bangor Maine! When I asked the forklift driver how they were able to get them he said"I don't know they just showed up."I already have 5 ton of assorted stuff (Maine Woods, energex, firesides) but this sounds like an awesome deal so I guess I'll start loading up for next year! THANKS.

Buy them all.

Tell me where and Ill get a truck and come load up.

Just scored on 4 tons of Blazers at HD for $219 per. Plus $65 delivery fee. A very good price since Blazers are made from Douglas Fir. I burned 10 bags last year and was extremely satisfied with heat output and low ash. I was hoping I could find more Blazers and felt lucky when I stumbled upon them again.

I think this is good and BAD news. Great pellet, great buy, but if Home Depot is bringing them all the way from Oregon, that indicates a huge problem with their suppliers. Their normal east coast suppliers can't supply their demand. Only Home Depot and Lowe's etc can subsidize that kind of freight. I estimate they are losing well over $100 per ton. Good news for you lucky guys who can find them.It also means for all us western guys, we may become victims of the East Coast. Keep a close eye on you local pellet supplier out west here.

Which HD?

I have two tons of Blazers. But the factory is about 15 miles away ;)

I love them so far, no issues in my 25pdvc

Auburn. But I think Bangor also had them.
Thanks, I stopped at the HD in Augusta and they had Blazers sitting on a pallet. Since I have 5 tons of pellets coming in Nov., I just took 20 bags with me.

Beware! The bags the Blazers are coming in were falling all apart when I picked them up.

I purchased 4 tons of FSU a year ago at HD. They were my baseline. As the winter wore away at all of us, I kept an open mind about other brands. When the pellet shortage became upon us, HD was bringing in many different brands, most I never heard of. When different brands showed up, I grabbed 5 or so bags at a time for testing ( most brands I tried were worse than FSU ). One of those brands I never heard of was Blazers. After burning through a half dozen bags of them in a very cold late Feb I realized that they were the best pellets I had ever burned, and wanted more, but HD had only the one truck load, and they were sold out in one day. When I stumbled upon them Sunday, I knew they were the real deal, and jumped on 4 tons, even though I already had my stash ( 4 tons Okie Golds and 1 ton FSU leftover ) for this heating season. So now, I have enough for two heating seasons. Moral of the story is keep trying different brands, you never know what you might find. If HD brings in other brands this winter that I have not tried yet, I'll keep buying a few samples to try out.
