Don't know how this happened, but paint is off. Probably too much of an area for touch up paint. Only door is cast iron. Top is steel plate. Can this be painted? If so, what kind of paint do I use? I know there is stove paint, but is this just for cast iron? Stove is black Napoleon.

Be aware, and this comes from a nay-sayer, the Stove Bright paint requires a ton of ventilation. If possible it should be done outside, but I know that may not be practical in many cases (as was my case).
If you are going to paint this indoors, plan to not have anyone around or in the house for at least 1 hour after you do it, and have all your windows open (and fans going).
I posted here a little while back about whether this product does a good job, and several people told me to make sure I used it outside due to the fumes. I have an insert and wasn't planning to do anything of the kind, so I cracked a window and used the barest minimum spray to touch up a couple small spots. Within seconds the entire house reaked, and within a few minutes of being in the house, trying to get fans going, I was lightheaded and feeling somewhat sick. The smell persisted for quite a while, even with fans going on high and windows opens. We wound up clearing everyone out the house and hanging out on the porch till it cleared up. I can only imagine what would have happened if I had used a lot of the stuff.
For those here who warned me....you were right :-/

I will wait until summer to paint it. Thanks for the advice. I will do it on a day when we won't be home for a while.

Man you guys a whimps, I paint with that stuff all the time. Sometimes emptying half a can inside a gas firebox, half the time I don't even think to open windows until the homeowner starts gagging. I may be a few brain cells short for my troubles but oh well.
Stove Brite is acetone based paint. It can and will destroy brain cells. Open windows wide and wear a mask or better yet, paint it outside.
