Great news, first overnight burn tonight. I am so happy with the stove and am sure we will be much warmer this year. I just wanted to thank everybody once again in this forum. I am still learning a lot. I really appreciate the knowledge found here.
Biggest mistake we made in our install was that we did the block off plate and cut liner to size and secured BEFORE getting the stove. If anybody is thinking of doing this, bad idea. We ended up successfully installing, but we had to use two 90 degree elbows and a little bit of skill and luck to make final connection whereas we could have probably had a direct connection from liner to stove had we had stove placed prior to cutting and securing liner. Anyway, hope that helps someone maybe in the future.
I was really afraid draft was going to be a problem because of how the fireplace drafted last year ... but definitely no problem there. If anything, it may be too much draft. I've seen some refer to their draft as a pulling like a freight train. I can relate to that now. I'm not sure if this is bad or not, but it seems even if I close the draft almost all the way off, the flame for the first hour maybe is still pretty intense. I put seven pieces in this evening and reached almost 700 degrees (with draft only 1/4 open) and then thankfully it started to come down again. But I did get an 8 hour burn other day so am happy with what it's doing. I'm sure this first year will continue to be a work in progress, but am thrilled with this stove beyond words
